Our shark cage diving tour starts off with a 2-hour drive along the national road that takes us to the town of Kleinbaai. This route crosses the Hottentots-Holland mountain range, although it is a slightly longer trip it is most definitely the most picturesque route with lots to see along the way.

We have made sure your 2-hour journey is not wasted and filled it with interesting highlights along the way. In just 20 minutes you will be out of the city center and traveling down the Overberg south coastal route to Gordon’s Bay, Pringle Bag and Betty’s Bay.   This route is amazingly picturesque and is an enjoyable way to set the mood for the day ahead. We travel beneath Sir Lowry’s Pass on the left and on the right you will just sheer cliff faces that drop off into the Indian Ocean below. As you near your destination of Betty’s Bay, you will be mesmerized by how unspoiled the beaches are and how they just seem to stretch on for miles.

Once we arrive in Kleinbaai at the Shark Cage Diving centre, you will be served a full breakfast to start the day on a good note. After breakfast you will be given an important and informative briefing covering all aspects of the cage dive you are about to experience. This is crucial.   The shark cage diving trip lasts roughly 3 hours (from start to finish) and you will be given the choice to watch these magnificent creatures from the boat or for the more adventurous, from the safety of the purpose built cages onboard. The choice is yours; you will not be made to go into the water unless you specifically wish to do so.

Once the shark cage dive is complete, the tour then heads along the famously scenic route (the Overberg south coastal route) which takes you to the small towns of Hermanus, Betty’s Bay, Pringle Bay and Gordon’s Bay.

Once we reach Hermanus, it is time for a late lunch (own account). This town has so much to see and discover. Its beauty is unmatched, there are adventure options, and it has contemporary up-market shops and fresh infrastructure. You can even continue with some land-based whale watching (in season) or casually roam the different arts and craft stalls that are in abundance.Once we arrive in Kleinbaai at the Shark Cage Diving centre, you will be served a full breakfast to start the day on a good note. Our next stop at Betty’s Bay compromises a choice between viewing the African Penguin’s breeding ground at Stony Point and visiting the Harold Porter National Botanical Garden.

The penguin’s breeding ground is positioned near an uninhibited whaling station that shut down in 1930. While operational roughly 300 whales were slaughtered each year for their oil. Once the station became abandoned, the penguins started making use of it as their breeding grounds.

The Harold Porter National Botanical Garden is sheltered between the mountainside and the sea. It is a place that is said to, ‘Feed the Soul”. It is perhaps the Cape’s lushest region, home to 1600 diverse plant species including cape reeds, heats, sugar bushes and cone bushes.

We then start our final stage back to Cape Town passing beneath the stunning Sir Lowry’s Pass. While Sir Lowry’s Pass will be visible on your right hand side while on the left, you will notice sheer drops of rocks that plunge away into the inviting Indian Ocean.

Your Shark Cage tour now takes its final step back to Cape Town.  This time we pass underneath the magnificent Sir Lowry’s Pass which can now be seen on your right hand side, while on the left hand side are sheer drops to rocks that fall away into the warm Indian Ocean.

Your Shark Cage Diving tour is then complete!
